There are different rules and regulations prescribed by different countries, which makes it easier to transport components that are flammable and those that contain chemical constituents.

Different Types of Containers

Containers

Containers are built as per international standards which make them possible to interchange between different transport companies. The standard measure of the containers is the Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit or TEU. The sizes of the containers could be 20 foot, 40 foot, 45 foot and 53 foot.

Open side containers allow wide space to upload materials easily, while tunnel containers make the uploading faster. Double door containers are useful in carrying large items like iron and steel with much wider loading space.
  • Refrigerated containers are a special type of containers that help to keep the items are relatively low and controlled temperature. These are ideal to keep the food items, fruits and vegetable fresh for a long time while transportation.
  • Thermal or insulated containers come with a regulated temperature control system that allows items inside to remain as it is without getting damaged from high temperature.

  • Transit time or time that the mode of transport will take to move the containers from one location to another is something to look for. Ships travel on a fixed route and schedules. Rails are considered an effective way of transport from any source to the seaport and again seaport to the destination. Airplanes are another way of transport which are faster but expensive
  • The freight containers experience forces while loading and transport. This can potentially damage the goods inside. So, make sure which transport is the safest for the cargo.
  • There are wooden, PVC steel and aluminum containers available, and the transportation must keep in mind the material of the container. Intermodal, intercity transport facility is available via the highways making it easier for commercial users to transport goods from one place to another.
