What Is CNC Turning?
CNC turning is a highly skilled, intricate, and detailed method of creating custom parts and components. It is the process of manufacturing bars of material that further enhance our competitiveness by completing a part in one set-up. It relies upon computer-controlled machines but creates a different end product. In this process, the material is rotated at varying speeds and the cutting tool traverses the 2 axes of motion to produce cylindrical cuts with exact depths and diameters. In addition to this, it creates objects with round or tubular shapes created from larger pieces of material. For instance, drive shaft, custom couplings, tubing, and other applications too.
What Is CNC Milling?
CNC milling includes a milling machine that provides a valuable resource to businesses and industries. The machines use G-codes or commands through computer software with each alphanumeric code having an assigned capacity performed by the machine. Each code entered into the program has a designated function performed by the machine. After the code enters the process, the mills turn along axes. CNC machine operators and controls utilizing the PC controls or manual replace are situated on the front of the machine.

- Lathe machine: Lathe machines are commonly retrofitted with CNC technology. A lathe machine spins the workpiece in a spindle because of this these machines are perfect for making the parts that have symmetry around some axis. Lathe machines have least ability to drive the cutting tool under G-code. CNC lathes have replaced the traditional production lathes such as multispindle due to its technological advancement. Lathe machines are used in many industries like electronics, automotive, aerospace, firearm manufacturing, etc. Products resulted from CNC lathe machine are crankshafts, gun barrels, musical instruments, cue sticks, etc.
- CNC routers: It is a computer controlled cutting machine used for cutting different kinds of hard material such as aluminum, wood, steel, plastic, composites, foams, etc. It has replaced the old technology as tool paths are controlled by CNC instead of routing by hand. Hence, it produces high-quality work and improves productivity. A CNC router is used to produce various products such as wood panels, signboards, furniture, door carvings, musical instruments, etc. It also helps in thermoforming of plastic.
- CNC plasma cutter: A CNC plasma cutter carries a plasma torch directed to the path via computer. A CNC plasma cutter requires a drive system that consists of motors, encoders, drive amplifiers, and cables to run. It is an excellent tool in order to quickly cut sheet metals, straps, pipes, bolts, metal plates, etc.
Therefore, by using CNC milling and turning, users can create patterns and add details to metals efficiently and effectively. It uses computer programs, codes, and commands to set up and run. Computer programming allows CNC milling and turning machines to make precise cuts and make a fine finished product.
